Summary

Food has been a part of video games for ages, from Pacman to Metal Gear Solid.

There are dozens of games where I shot, punched, or exploded other characters.

The meal sequences in Pentiment and Sakuna are perfect examples of how to do exposition in games.

There's also something to be said about how online co-op games use food to give players a communal activity disengaged from main objectives.

In base-building games like Valheim and Sons of the Forest, food is necessary for survival but cooking takes time.
