Universities hesitant to embrace gaming despite positive effects on student success

According to the National Library of Medicine, college educators should first examine the positive effect of video games and try to help their students utilize them.
Tesseract aimed to teach students game development and design while guiding students in applying their skills to careers after graduation, Fredrick said.
"Most students from here will not go on to make AAA games," Fredrick said.
Bury said implementing games within university courses can provide a new way for students to grasp information.
"Games are very interactive in the sense of how you are to learn and adapt throughout the game to succeed and potentially win," Bury said.
"Being able to tie that into a history course is probably the biggest beneficiary of video games." Curtis Maughan, the director of the World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio, studies the relationship between digital humanities and game study.
"Every game has an experiential lesson to it, so we think about what we want students to do in the classroom," Maughan said.
