Abstract

“It is said that the most important aspect of a successful venture is timing. The current world of education technology is now ripe for the expansion of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), for both economic and technical reasons. This literature review provides an overview of the types of VR and AR tools gaining popularity, along with an exploration of both the benefits and challenges of using these tools in the K12 setting. Although there is research evidence for the benefits of using VR and AR in education, this is a new technology, with much research to be done before it is a proven asset to education.”
