Summary

Madagascar faces significant challenges due to climatic shocks and environmental degradation, hindering progress towards sustainable development goals, especially in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), notably in schools. UNICEF, with support from partners like Zonta International, is implementing sustainable programs targeting adolescent girls. Five schools in the Androy region received WASH kits, including climate-resistant latrines and handwashing devices. Additionally, UNICEF introduced iKa'lio, a game promoting menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Through various activities, students learn about hygiene, environmental conservation, and practical skills like gardening, facilitated by infrastructure improvements like solar-powered water systems and separate toilets. This holistic approach aims to build resilient communities capable of addressing climate challenges.
