Summary

In my high school Economics class, I use the classic game The Game of Life to teach personal finance. This tabletop game, created by Milton Bradley in 1860, simulates life’s financial choices from college to retirement. I chose a simplified version to save setup time. Students play in groups, making decisions about college and careers, and evaluate the game's realism. They assess how well the game represents financial concepts like debt and savings and suggest improvements, leading to an argumentative essay. Key changes suggested by students include adding taxes and medical expenses to enhance realism. This project effectively combines interactive learning with personal finance education.
