Table Top Games for Online Learning
Table Top Games for Online Learning
Games are powerful platforms for teaching, learning, training, and education. Table top games are especially powerful for engaging students in tangible and physical game worlds that they can see, and interact with, live and in-person. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has made playing table games and board games with our students a challenging proposition. However, there are FREE online versions of some of the most popular table top games that you can use for teaching and learning online!
This presentation will review how using existing games for teaching is games-based learning. Specific table top games will be covered including “Just One” by Ludovic Roudy & Bruno Sautter; “Hanabi” by Antoine Bauza; “Codenames” by Vlaada Chvátil; and “Wavelength” by Alex Hague, Justin Vickers, and Wolfgang Warsch. How to play each of these games for free online will be covered. Lastly, learning outcomes achieved by students playing these games will be outlined as well as how educators can use them in their classrooms right now.
